Shower floor retile when the membrane has failed
Bottom line: We demolish the shower floor and the bottom row or rows of wall tiles, repair the substrate, waterproof, retile, and seal the area with epoxy grout. This is the repair when regrout alone cannot stop the leak.
- Used for poor fall, failed waterproofing, or a floor that has to be rebuilt.
- Jean Smith’s published comment was a shower floor replacement finished in four days.
- Wall tiles above the bottom rows can often stay.
What happens on site?
- Protect the room and remove the shower floor tiles and the bottom wall row or rows.
- Repair the substrate so the floor falls to the waste.
- Waterproof, retile, and epoxy-grout the finished area.
